Isabel joined the German Department in 2023. Her research interests include feminist theory and its intersections with 20th and 21st century German-language literature, experimental writing, exophony and memory studies.
Isabel holds an MPhil in Comparative Literatures and Cultures from the University of Cambridge, where she also completed her B.A. in German and French studies with the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. Her Master’s thesis engaged with the interaction between inherited trauma and performances of mothering in contemporary Jewish-German and Jewish-Austrian writing. She has also studied at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and previously worked as a researcher for the British-German author John Kampfner.
Alongside her academic pursuits, Isabel plays the violin in a number of ensembles in New York and Berlin.
