Richard Alan Korb

Richard Alan Korb holds a Ph. D. in Germanic Literature (University of Pittsburgh, 1988) and taught German and directed the German Language Program in Columbia’s Department of Germanic Languages from 1994 to 2016. 

As Senior Lecturer, he taught elementary, intermediate, and advanced German courses for undergraduates.  As Language Program Director, he was responsible for Teaching Fellow training and coordination of the German language curriculum.

He is author of the German for Reading Knowledge (Heinle/Cengage, 7th edition, 2014).  

In retirement since January 2017, R.A. Korb enjoys volunteering in Riverside Park, bird watching, reading murder mysteries, and spending time with his husband, Donald Downs.
