Isabel joined the German Department in 2023. She holds an MPhil in Comparative Literatures and Cultures from the University of Cambridge, where she also completed her B.A. in German and French studies with the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. She has also studied at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and most recently worked as a researcher for the British author John Kampfner in Berlin.
Isabel’s Master’s thesis engaged with the interaction between inherited trauma and performances of mothering in contemporary Jewish-German and Jewish-Austrian writing. Her broader research interests include Ingeborg Bachmann, disgust and the Abject, gender theory, experimental literatures, and exophonic writing.
Alongside her academic studies, Isabel is a passionate violinist and writes occasionally for a London-based online jazz publication.
