Uta Habbig

Uta Habbig holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in German Language and Literature, Music Education and Pedagogy from the University of Leipzig as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Music from the New School for Jazz. Her research interests include the role of music in second language learning and in methods of teaching that aim to design classes as a holistic cultural experience. Besides teaching at Columbia, Uta Habbig has been teaching German courses at the College of Arts and Science NYU since 2018 and directs the Children’s Program of Deutsches Haus at NYU. In addition to her work as a German Lecturer, Uta is an active performer in the New York music scene.
