Michael Watzka, born 1991 in Krumbach (Schwaben), is a graduate student at Columbia University's German Department and a journalist. As a Cusanus-Fellow, he received his B.A. in literature and musicology from Humboldt-University in Berlin.
Michael is the co-editor of the quarterly literary magazine metamorphosen (Berlin, Verbrecher Verlag) and editor of the collected poems of Hainbund-poet Johann Martin Miller (Liederton und Triller, Berlin 2014). As a journalist, he has been working for various German broadcasters and newspapers, such as Bayerischer Rundfunk, ZDF, Südwest Presse, Jungleworld or the FAZ. His research focuses on contemporary poetry and the poetics of time, voice and narrative framing. So far, two of his articles have been published in Lenz-Jahrbuch (2014) and Musik & Ästhetik (2014).
